Women in Ministry

Oregon Women's Ministries is expanding and improving our ministry to credentialed women and the wives of our credentialed ministers. Updates coming soon! More resources can also be found at the national Women in Ministry website: www.womeninministry.ag.org.

The Network Conference Women's Luncheon ministered to our women in ministry. Beth Davis, our Oregon missionary, blessed us with this wonderful message, encouraging us to adopt Jesus' unforced rhythms of grace.

THE UNFORCED RHYTHMS OF GRACE

Matthew 11:28 "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." The Message, Eugene Peterson

A beautiful invitation from our Lord to learn His rhythm. TO LIVE AS JESUS LIVED

DOING what Jesus would DO is a good thing. But today let's look beyond what Jesus DID and reflect for a few moments on how he LIVED

Reading between the lines of the gospels where Jesus performs miracles, teaches, and preaches great sermons...

Here is what he modeled to his disciples:
-He went up on a mountainside and sat down
-He walked beside the sea of Galilee
-He got into the boat; it was smooth sailing and he fell asleep
-He had dinner at Matthew's house
-He went out and sat by the Lake
-He climbed a mountain to pray
-He went to Levi's house for dinner
-He left the crowd and went into the house
-He went to the Pharisee's house and sat down at the dinner table
-He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place

#1 The rhythm of REST. Jesus said: "I'll show you how to take a real rest"

-Multitasking does not = godliness.

-Revisit the 10 Commandants: Exodus 20 goes into great detail regarding the Sabbath.

-Women in ministry fail most in this area.

#2 The rhythm of RECREATION. (Read between the lines and Jesus walked, climbed mountains, fished).

Part of recreation is exercise. The following are benefits of exercise:
-Stress relief (especially during/following crisis or trauma)
-Energy
-Weight loss
-Better sleep
-Better overall health
-Better attitude
-Longevity
-Quality of life
-Creativity
-Better sex life
-Self-esteem
-Money saved (doctors, clothes)

#3 The rhythm of RELATIONSHIP

-When we read between the lines, we see Jesus in relationships
12 disciples
3 close friends-Peter, James, and John
1 best friend, John

-Isolation = depression. We are created for community.
2 things cause our brains to produce endorphins: exercising and talking to other women

#4 The rhythm of REFLECTION

-Reflection requires creating a time and space in our lives.

-We learn about God primarily by being with Him.

-Listening Prayer. It is significant that at the moment of transfiguration God spoke to the disciples by saying "This is my son listen to him" (Mark 9:7)

-It may be helpful to have a specific place to reflect and BE with God each day.

Conclusion:
THE UNFORCED RYTHMS OF GRACE

REST (put Sabbath rest on your calendar)
RECREATION (if you become depressed, you will not have the energy to read and pray)
RELATIONSHIPS (be intentional & find someone)
REFLECTION (make sure to create space and have a place)
